The Power Of Christ's Resurrection

Jesus Christ is the centre of Christianity. Without Him, true Christianity would not exist. At the core of Christianity is the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Lord (I Corinthians 15: 3,4).

The difference between Christianity and other religions is that only Christianity has a founder Who is alive not dead. Even though He died, He is now alive, for He has risen gloriously from the dead.

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. On that first Good Friday, Jesus in agony was crucified for the sins of all mankind. He was the perfect sacrifice for each one of us. God's Law demanded death for sin. If Jesus had not died for us, we would have no hope. Upon death we would enter Hell, the punishment for our sins. Jesus is the peace offering and atonement for our sins and the sins of the whole world (I John 2:2-3). "God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). His death has brought peace with God to everyone who trusts in Him. So powerful is His death on the cross that we have inward peace through the crucified Saviour.

Jesus' resurrection from death gives us hope forevermore. As the Bible says:
"For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that One has died for all, therefore all have died; and He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him Who for their sake died and was raised" (II Corinthians 5: 14-15). Notice how closely linked in the Bible are the death of Christ and His resurrection from the dead. You cannot believe in one without the other. Our faith depends upon both His death and His resurrection.

The Bible, (the holy Scriptures), goes on to point out that "if anyone is in Christ (puts one's trust in Him) he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come" (II Corinthians 5:17-18). Having the living Christ within us (through the Holy Spirit indwelling us upon our acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord) brings a whole new way of living. We come to life in Him from the deadness of our sins to a new life. Christ's death and resurrection bring this about in the believer's heart and life.

Through the resurrection of Christ, one of history's greatest truths, Jesus demonstrated His power over sin, death, the grave and hell itself. If we believe not it will be to our peril. If we accept this truth, we will have a new living entity within (the Holy Spirit i.e. the Spirit of Christ - Romans 8:9). We have the certainty that because He rose again, our bodies shall rise from the dead one day in His glorious likeness - I John 3:2). In the meanwhile, when the believer dies, he is "absent from the body and present with the Lord" (II Corinthians 5:8). This is the logical outcome of the resurrection of Christ from the dead!

Do you believe? Right now, will you open your heart's door (Revelation 3:20) and receive the crucified and risen Lord Jesus as your Saviour and Lord forever? Just pray this simple prayer:
"Lord Jesus, thank you for dying for me and rising again from the dead. Please forgive my sins and come into my life as my Saviour and Lord forever. Take control of my life from this moment on. Thank-you for saving me".

Then start reading the Bible beginning with the New Testament. Also, get into a Bible believing church where you can learn and develop spiritually. May you know the power of Christ's resurrection in your life, too.
