Little Things Do Matter (Colossians 3:1-14)

Many people think that little things don't really matter. But, in reality, they do!
A famous olympic runner who took gold several times when asked what was the worst ordeal in
racing said, "Sand in my shoes."

The Bible warns us to watch little things for they can trip us up spiritually. A classic
chapter on this topic is Colossians three in the Bible. Here we are exhorted to fix our minds on things above rather than on the earth. After all, we who know Jesus as Lord and Saviour have
been raised with Him to a new life. (check out Colossians 3:1-4)

We are also to put to death whatever belongs to our old nature of sin. (Paul, the apostle, ennumerates these as: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry, Colossians 3:5). We are to be different. Anger, rage, slander, malice, and filthy langauage
and lying are to be spurned as unbecoming to the Christian. Like dirty clothes, we are to
put off the old nature(what we were before we met Christ) and put on the new nature in
Christ!

Over it all, we are to put on love which binds the Christians' heart into a unity in
in Christ. In such love we are to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility
gentleness and patience. We are to put up (bear with) one another and forgive as Christ
has forgiven us.

Some of these things may seem small, but in the pressures of life they can be immense.
In reality there are no small things, right? What we consider small may become great
if circumstances change. Little things DO matter!!

I found this out when I had to have my main computer serviced of late. They found 34 viruses
in it. These "little things" were making my computer freeze up and do strangle things. Again I learned that little things do matter! God bless you as you root out little things that are holding you back spiritually. Give them over to Christ and begin anew.
