The Change Jesus Brings

When Jesus enters a life, one is radically changed. A good example of such a change is the account in the Bible of Jesus meeting a Jewish leader by the name of Nicodemus.

Nicodemus came to Jesus at night (after dark). Perhaps he feared for his reputation, since most of the Jewish leaders at that time were against Christ and wanted Him dead.
Or perhaps it was because Jesus was so busy with the crowds that constantly gathered to hear Him preach or do miracles in the daytime, He would then have little time to spend with Nicodemus without interruptions. Whatever was the reason, Jesus had an indepth conversation with Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.

Nicodemus began the meeting by commending Jesus. He said, "Rabbi,we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these miracles that you do unless God is with him." Interestingly, Nicodemus indicated that other leading Jews respected Jesus when he used the "we" pronoun instead of "I".

Jesus, in reply, said, "Truly, Truly, I say to you, unless one is born again ("born from above"), he cannot see the kingdom of God." Jesus seems to change the subject dramatically and begins a dialogue with Nicodemus about the new birth. He indicated that no one can enter into God's rule and lordship and eventually Heaven unless he is born again.

Nicodemus responded, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into His mother's womb and be born?" Jesus replied, "Truly, truly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh (physical birth), and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (spiritual birth). Do not marvel that I said to you 'You must be born again'. The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

And, friend, on the authority of Jesus' words here, we can safely say that no one can experience God's rulership in their lives or get to Heaven without the new birth, the birth "from above"! Why don't you read for yourself this great passage in the Bible
(John 3: 1-21). II Corinthians 5:17 reminds us that if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation, old things pass away, and all things become new. Whenever Jesus enters a life, He brings great changes and gradually makes us like Himself. Open your life to Jesus and see how He will change you.
