The Wonder Of God

As I sit writing this blog, I am in the fantastically beautiful state of Arizona. Bought from Mexico in the late 1800's, Arizon now boasts a population of more than six million. The natural beauty of this state is breathtaking and sometimes indescribable.
My wife and I have enjoyed a mini-vacation in this ruggedly beautiful area of the United States. Our base of operation for this week of relaxation has been the city of Flagstaff. Yesterday we journied to Sedona. The day before that we made our way to the Grand Canyon. In every case we were overwhelmed by natural beauty only God could have created. How often I felt like singing in different canyons the song, "How Great Thou Art"!
While a page boy scandal broke out in Washington with former representative Mark Foley (he has rightly resigned over this)and while bloodshed continued in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as the Middle East, it was good to come apart and
rest awhile. I have been meditating on Psalm 121, "I lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord Who made Heaven and earth!" Isaiah 12 is also a consolation. Psalm 46 has great sustaining power,"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in time of trouble. Therefore, we will not fear.....The Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge."
What is so reassuring is that "tho' the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler yet" (from the hymn "This Is My Father's World"). If He can make the mighty canyons and deep grorges on earth and fill them with incredible beauty, He can guard us from all wrong as we trust in Him! Put your hand into the nail-pierced hand of Christ, our Lord, and walk safely into the future with great confidence. Cultivate praise prayer, and thanksgiving in your life and you will be wonderfully enriched. God bless you.
