Dear Praying Friends:

Christmas 2007! How the time has flown by. Immanuel, God with us, has been so good in watching over us and keeping us safe from perilous storm and threatening winds. Jesus is the Wonderful Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father. The Prince Of Peace. There is no one like Him. He is Lord over all!

And He continues to send us beautiful, precious grandchildren. One May 19, Kristi gives birth to her third baby boy (“my three sons”). Mike is thrilled. We learned at our Thanks

giving family get-to-gether through Jordyn (age 7) that Phil and Casie are going to have another little one (their sixth!) in April. That will give us seventeen grandchildren – wow! Do please keep our family in your prayers.

May I share a Christmas story with you. One of our elderly and dearest friends, Edith, supported us way back in Japan. Well, she is still giving so we can do the work of the Lord. Recently she moved into a nursing home. She had $500 to spare so she sent it to us for our chaplaincy ministry. My heart was moved and I had tears in my eyes as I read her letter. Like the widow of old, she gave all she could. As I look at our work, in addition to prayer we need gifts of love most of all. Gas has gone through the roof. With computers, etc. office supplies are a constant challenge. I wish you could journey with me to our chaplaincies (20 of them now) and hear the comments of those who enjoy our ministry in song and word. Will you, like Edith, send us a Christmas gift to help in this time of need? Please remember no salaries are taken from the work. We donate our time. All gifts go directly to ministry expenses. God bless you for your generosity and love.

Louise, for personal reasons, is no longer helping in the work. We did appreciate her labours with us for almost two years. I could use another assistant. Please pray.

All our family (26 BC Lairds now) send their love and best wishes for a great 2008.

May the Lord’s love ever surround and keep you. Gifts should be sent to the address above (c/o Community Chaplaincy). They will be receipted for income tax purposes at the end of the year. Thank-you so much.

Lovingly In Christ Our Lord,

Dr. Lester R.L.Laird,

Director, Community Chaplaincy
